Our goal at Airborne Dance studio in Longmont, CO, is to nurture dancers who are hard working, strong in character and in body, kind to all others around them, self reliant, eager to better themselves on a daily basis, creative and who have a love of dance. It is through the leadership of teachers and choreographers with these same attributes that we aim to create dancers with the necessary life skills that will help them achieve anything and everything they can possibly dream now and in their future.
Our recreational performance team is the Tour Ensemble and is open to all dancers in DanceStars recital based classes. There are two age groups within the Tour Ensemble, a 6 to 8 year old group and a 9 and older group. These groups are for those dancers who would like to perform more than just once a year at the recital, but who don’t want to pursue competitive dance.
Tour Ensemble will meet once a week for one hour to learn dances to be performed at the Nutty Nutcracker in December and various other events around the area throughout the year, such as Boulder Creek Festival, Art Walks, and more. They will also perform their Tour Ensemble dances at the recital in addition to their regular class dances.
In addition to the monthly class tuition there is a Tour Ensemble Fee. Please see our Class Price List for current fees.
Invitations to the Performance Team are based on evaluations by Airborne Dance Directors and Teachers. While prospective Performance Team member’s dance technique is important, more emphasis is placed on attitude, a long-term demonstration of willingness to work hard, and their ability to work together as a team.
Placement on Pre-Team I or II is based on age as well as the skills of the dancer. In placement evaluations, we will test their technique, listening and learning skills, and their ability to take corrections. In order to be placed on Pre-Team the dancer must have participated in our DanceStars class program for at least one year.
The Airborne Performance Team is a selection of dancers consisting of five separate groups: Company I, Company II, Company III, Pre-Team I, and Pre-Team II. Membership is by invitation only. Dancers chosen show a great number of the attributes listed in our mission statement and have excelled in our recreational dance program for at least one year.
Placement on Team (Company I, Company II, or Company III) is based on an evaluation process where the dancer is tested and evaluated on their technique, listening and learning skills, and their ability to take corrections. Age and number of years in the team or Pre-Team program are not used in determining level placement. In order to be placed on Team the dancer must have participated in our Pre-Team program for at least one year.
We do occasionally accept students new to the area, and transfer students, directly into our team and pre-team programs on a trial basis. Please contact Sara Calabrese, Airborne Dance Director, for information.
