Below are the Airborne Gymnastics & Dance general class policies. Please note some programs have program specific policies in addition to these general policies. To avoid misunderstandings, please read all the appropriate program policies in addition to these general policies, before enrolling in a class.
If there are any questions or concerns, please raise them before enrolling your student. Our staff and instructors are always happy to discuss specific classes and the policies associated with those classes.
Airborne Dance Studio Dress Codes
Our dress codes are created primarily for the safety and comfort of each dancer. I.E. If students are in modern class and need to slide, we want them to be able to do that. Clothing should never get in the way of technique and learning. Dress codes also bring a sense of uniformity to our program and uphold classical dance etiquette. We ask that families take no longer than 2 weeks to purchase the proper attire for class.

All dancers must have their hair pulled back off their face for all dance classes!
For all programs: No jeans or jean shorts, no jewelry, and no footed tights, except in dance classes. No street shoes in the gymnastics areas or dance rooms. Hair must be secured away from the face. We will supply rubber bands to children who forget to pull their hair back. If your child’s hair can interfere with their vision, it needs to be pulled back.
Jewelry: Please have your child remove all jewelry before class starts. (Small stud-style earrings will be permitted, although we would prefer you remove those as well.) Jewelry can easily get caught on something (such as a spotter’s hand) and be broken or cause injury. Children will be asked to remove any jewelry they wear into the gym. Airborne is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Releasing Students From Classes
One of Airborne’s main goals is to keep our students safe. We always update policies to keep up with current best practices. In order to do our best to ensure that each student leaves with their parent or guardian, we will be transitioning to a more structured class release program.
Please make every effort to pick your child up in a timely manner. If you will be late, call our office so we know when you will arrive. We know emergencies arise, but it’s best if students are picked up within 10 minutes of the end of their class.
Daytime Classes: Daytime classes are much smaller than Saturday and Evening classes, making it easier to spot a child without a parent in the lobby.
Evening and Saturday Dance Classes: Our dance instructors will walk each class out of their dance room, and turn the students over to their parents. If parents are not present, students will go back into the dance room with the teacher and sit during the next class or sit at the front desk until parents arrive. If it’s the last class of the night, students will be brought to the lobby to wait.
Parents of students in fourth grade and older and/or in Company will have the option of permitting their child to leave the class unattended. Please let the front desk know prior to class.
If you opt to let your child leave unattended, PLEASE educate your child in safe practices such as never leaving with someone they don’t have permission to leave with, never keeping secrets from parents, and knowledge of body safety rules.
Newsletters are emailed directly to you about twice per month. PLEASE read these newsletters. Information regarding your child’s class, upcoming events at Airborne Dance studio, and more will be included in these newsletters. If you have any questions regarding what is in the newsletter please ask us. If you opt out of these newsletters, you might miss important information!
Attendance is directly reflective of technical skill and growth. The more you are here, the more improvements you will see. Dance is an activity that requires presence in class week after week. Good attendance is for the comfort of the dancer as well. When students miss multiple classes, they do not feel confident when it comes time to perform. Therefore, we stress the importance of being present in class and encourage students to be at class as much as possible.
Absences: If you are going to be absent, it is always helpful to give the front desk a call and let us know!
Make-up Classes: Make-up classes are available for recreational students. We do not pro-rate or give credit for missed classes.
Being on Time: Children are most comfortable when they arrive before their class begins. Arriving a little early allows for a smooth transition from parent to teacher. Children can become very self-conscious when they enter their class late. Warm-ups are a very important part of class – besides preparing the body physically for class; we are preparing mentally, reviewing skills, and discussing important safety issues. Please make an effort to be on time (or a little early) to your class each week.
Late Arrivals: Students who arrive 10 or more minutes late will be asked to schedule a make-up class. Arriving very late is a distraction to the class as well as being unsafe for your student.
All our studios have observation windows for your viewing pleasure! We will also have set observation weeks where families and friends are invited into the studios to watch class. Please: NO flash photography! This is not only distracting to all our students but can be dangerous as well.
Siblings: Brothers and sisters are welcome to accompany parents in the observation areas. Please bring coloring books or quiet toys to entertain your child while you are watching class. Parents are responsible for their child’s behavior – it is expected that children in the observation play areas will play nicely, not abuse toys or throw things, or cause disruptions to others observing classes. Please do not allow your children to run or climb on the benches in our observation areas. If your child becomes a distraction to others in the observation area you will be asked leave.
Children not in class must be supervised at all times. Please do not leave children unattended anywhere in our facility at any time. Our office staff is responsible for answering phones, assisting customers, and attending to minor first aid needs of students. They cannot be responsible for watching your children. Please do not permit your young child to “shop” in our store unattended. We have had items accidentally destroyed by young children playing in our store. We cannot sell items that have been thrown on the floor repeatedly.
NO Food and/or Drinks (other than water bottles) allowed in the class areas.
Snow Days: We rarely close due to inclement weather. If the weather is bad, please call before coming in. If we do close, we will have a message to that effect on our phone voicemail at least one hour prior to closing.
Please use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to come to class during inclement weather. Remember, keeping your family safe is more important than attending one class. You may schedule a make-up for classes missed due to weather.
School Closures: Our customers attend schools in many different school districts. Do not assume that your child does not have class because the schools are closed in your area. Please call the office if you are in doubt.
Space & Facility: We ask that all families and students respect our dancing space. Please review the following studio guidelines in order to upkeep our space.
- Please NO street shoes in the studios. We want to avoid tracking in dirt and scratching the floors.
- Our barres are not gymnastics barres! They will break if you hang on them.
- Recycle your water bottles. Each studio has a recycling bin – Please use it!
Lost and Found: We keep lost items at our facility for two weeks. After two weeks, items are donated to local charities. Airborne Gymnastics & Dance is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Remember to take jewelry off your child before class starts!
